Year 10 Ag excursion
We are starting a partnership with Lawson Grains. The local operation is run by Nick Ennis. The students do a unit on Winter Cereals, which we always have difficulty growing properly at school. Nick has offered the students to each have a 12m swath of ground that they can sow and top dress (fertilizer) themselves (driving the tractor and seeder) The idea is for them to visit the site 3 or 4 times during the year to monitor the progress of their site. Nick has offered to allow them to use the technology involved, GPS and satnav etc. he has also offered for them to be a part of the cropping trials that he runs for the major companies out there. This should be an awesome opportunity.

Continuous Reporting Parent Forum
Continuous Reporting & Parent Lounge Access

After the recent Parent Teacher interviews staff raised concerns that some parents were having trouble accessing feedback on Parent Lounge, or more alarmingly, hadn’t yet tried to access the feedback at all! It is important to the school that all parents are reading the feedback provided after each assessment task and that in doing so, this prompts a discussion between parent and child about how their learning is going. Continuous reporting is a fabulous tool for student learning, as the feedback is targeted and frequent. Parent involvement is critical in helping the child to respond positively to the feedback and to action any suggestions made by the teacher to move forward.

In light of this, there will be a follow-up Parent Forum on Continuous Reporting and Parent Lounge access on Tuesday 16th May from 7-8pm in the JET (behind the Library). Staff will work with parents to access teacher feedback and become familiar with Parent Lounge and its functions.
