The Scots School Albury is a leading education destination in the Albury Wodonga Region, and a ‘first choice’ boarding school provider in the wider rural region and beyond. Shortlisted as a finalist in the 2018 Regional School of the Year, Scots is seeking an enthusiastic educational leader who will inspire creativity and a passion for learning within the whole Junior School community.

Beginning in 2019, the successful candidate will continue to build upon the established reputation of the Junior School as a World IB School, using best practice teaching methods, innovative learning tools and wellbeing programs to engage students in their journey of learning and self-discovery.

Working directly with the Principal, and as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Head of Junior School will be an influential, energetic, positive and visible leader within the School community, able to inspire and motivate both colleagues and students. It is essential for the successful applicant to have a focus on rigorous, inquiry-based learning, and a strong understanding of best-practice teaching methodologies.

Position Summary

  • Strategic and collaborative leadership of the K-6 community to deliver innovative teaching, learning and caring programs in line with the vision of the School.

The successful candidate will be able to:

  • Play an active role in the leadership, development and implementation of the current and future pedagogical strategies and objectives for the Junior School, including the overall responsibility for embedding continued implementation of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP)
  • Be accountable for the implementation of elements of the business plan as they relate to the Junior School and broader whole-of-school goals.
  • Promote, facilitate and implement key strategic objectives to all Junior School staff, ensuring that there is understanding, engagement and participation at all staff levels.
  • Develop, recommend, implement and monitor quality assurance processes regarding teaching and learning, student assessment, staff learning and pastoral care.
  • Engage and maintain positive and collaborative relationships with a range of internal and external community stakeholders.
  • Respond strategically and proactively to the changing education sector, lead innovation collaboratively and model a positive approach to change
