The Scots Junior School provides a safe and nurturing environment that places each child at the centre of his or her learning experience.
Children know they belong and feel part of a safe community where every teacher knows every child’s name. Learning is fun and children are engaged in what they learn.
We help children make the transition from Pre-school to Junior School. We also help children who are making the transition from another school or from another town. They will feel welcome and part of the Scots community.
Our orientation program helps children become familiar with the school surroundings, their fellow students, teachers and their classroom.
We have small class sizes. Our students are engaged and interested in what they are learning, both from the traditional learning areas as well as our range of specialised subjects.
Our comprehensive curriculum follows the NSW Board of Studies in all Key Learning Areas: English, Mathematics, HSIE (Human Society & Its Environment), and Science and Technology.
Our Challenge Centre supports children who need a bit of extra help or who are gifted and need a bit more challenge. It offers one-on-one support as well as in small groups both inside and outside the classroom (with children of different levels of ability).
Right from Kindergarten, our teachers use technology as an essential tool in helping children learn. The Junior School has an up-to-date computer laboratory, comprehensive library and a pool of laptop computers to help students become information-literate. Each classroom also has an interactive whiteboard.
Our Specialist teachers bring a depth of knowledge and skills to their subject areas: CRAVE (Christian Religious And Values Education), Japanese Studies, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, PDHPE (Physical Education, Health and Personal Development), Health, Library and Music.
After School hours care is provided for children through Camp Australia in one of the Junior School classrooms.
