E-News the Way to Go
The School Newsletter has been an integral part of our communication and has been a great asset to our School community. I thank Heather Toth for her enormous care and expertise in producing this weekly document along with her team in the Development Office, who have worked tirelessly with you to facilitate communication for many years.
However the time and resources required each week to produce this document have been immense, and so it is time to embrace a new and more efficient way of communicating.
From the commencement of Term 4 our weekly news will therefore be in electronic form on this website. I am asking the School community to work with me in embracing this change, as we forge through a new era of news delivery and communications for the School.
Change can often be confronting, difficult, and sometimes slow to take effect, yet I am sure that we are heading in an exciting direction. We are at the cusp of a grand transformation of which we can all play an integral role.
I would like you to know that I have listened to your feedback about this dramatic change and the concerns that some have with not being able to access a pdf of the newsletter. I am pleased to inform you that we will therefore be producing a summary of the latest news stories submitted on the website each week in PDF form. This will be emailed as part of my weekly broadcast to all registered users for the website, and will enable you to scan the news items submitted, to help you select those stories you wish to access the website to read in more detail.
In this way you will be able to view a cross-section of news from all areas of the School, keeping you aware of K-12 activities. You will also be able to print this summary (however I encourage you to consider the environment before choosing this option).
As part of the important communications capabilities that have been built into the functionality on the site, I urge you to check you subscriptions. This capability enables you to receive notification of changes to information as it is entered on the site.
This can be done when you first login and your account details are displayed. Click on the tab Notifications, and then Subscriptions to view (or edit) the types of content that you are subscribed to. I recommend that you subscribe to Content type - Announcements (which includes all Announcements that appear on the front page and Notices in the Year Portals) along with Events (items on the School Calendar), to benefit from this dynamic communications tool.
If you wish to submit an article or information for publication, please contact Cathy Croft (our Website and Communications Manager), through the Contact link on the website.
The wave of positive comments regarding the changes have been enormously encouraging and I thank you for your feedback. I urge you to keep suggesting ways in which we can continue to improve and remain at the forefront of information delivery for all members of our community, which we will endeavour wherever possible, to address.
