Boarder's Sports Weekly
Edition 43
Date:
Thursday, October 29th, 2009 Welcome to the 43rd Edition of Boarders Sports Weekly.
This week in:
- Cricket:
- Duncan Trethowan (Year 9) scored 22 for the Under 15s Division 1 playing some scintillating shots, whilst older brother Angus Trethowan (Year 11) claimed 2/1 off his 2 overs in the Under 17s.
- Tennis:
- We saw the Year 9 girl boarders team consisting of Harriet Mackinnon, Georgia Haberecht and Amelia Mackinnon trounce their opposition 47 games to 27.
- Touch Football:
- Tuesday night in the mixed competition had the Wombats narrowly go down to the older and more experienced Two Blues 7-5. Quinn Rooney (Year 10) and Phillip Bird (Year 10) were the standouts for the Two Blues, whilst Year 9 students Angus Locke, Blake Wiseman and Duncan Trethowan were fittingly the best for the Wombats.
- The Sellar Dwellers had a tight victory over the Kinross Ferrets 8-7 with Hamo (Michael Hamilton - Year 10), Angus Trethowan (Year 11) and Alistair Gordon (Year 11) all scoring, and playing pivotal roles in the victory.
- The Wilson Warriors however succumbed to their second defeat in as many weeks, going down to Alby's 4-2. Patrick McNamara (Year 11) and Nigel Colman (Year 11) were the try-scorers.
- In the recent Albury Tiger vote count, Charles Kerr (Year 11) was runner up in the Thirds Best & Fairest, capping off a magnificent season with the Tigers.
- Basketball on Friday night saw Mason Clifton (Year 11) hit his first points of the season with a massive 'Three' from miles behind the arc - which simply brought the house down!
- Basketball from Monday night and Boarder Patrol suffered a 35-28 defeat to Reverse Kanga's in their Men's basketball encounter. William Haberecht (Year 10) scored 12 points.
As always, good luck to all Boarders playing sport in the coming week.
I'm Michael Gregory (Year 11) for BSW, and I'll see you next time for Edition 44!
