Boarders Sports Weekly
Welcome to the 44th Edition of Boarders Sports Weekly.
This week in the world of Boarders Sport, Basketball was a hit with many Scots teams finding a way to victory. Cricket saw many games have interesting first days, and Touch Football was the biggest positive with 4 of the 5 teams tasting victory.
First with Basketball and the team of Scots MacNeil continued their unbeaten streak to ten, which leaves them on top of the ladder and undefeated for the entire season to date!
Men's Basketball, and it was all Boarder Patrol on Monday night with the team scoring a pivotal 38-28 victory over the Vipers which places them outright second on the ladder. Florian (Gap) stepped out for the first time in this encounter and scored 4 points whilst assisting William Haberecht (Year 10) under the ring. Alexander Henderson (Year 12) added 12 valuable points to the total.
Cricket from Saturday morning and Angus Trethowan (Year 11) pulled off a breathtaking pick-up and run-out sequence with a direct hit from 30m which sent the U17s Division 1 team into raptures.
Sam Dunlevey (Year 8) took his first wicket of the season on Saturday morning in the Under 15s Division 2 fixture opening the bowling, and finished with respectable figures of 2/10 from his 2 overs.
Onto Touch Football and Phillip Bird (Year 10) managed three tries along with Quinn Rooney (Year 10) who guided their team Two Blues to victory over X-Rayted.
Year 11 students Nigel Colman and Patrick McNamara also managed to score multiple try's for the Wilson Warriors in their win, whilst Nigel Colman was the best player and try-scorer in the Roger Ramjets narrow triumph over Alby's Astros.
My racing tip for this weekend is Platinum Skye on Saturday as she resumes from her spell to assert her dominance.
This week's Sporting quote is from Australian Cricketer, Michael Hussey:
If you just keep fighting and plugging away, eventually you will reap the rewards.
As always, good luck to all Boarders playing sport in the coming week.
I'm Michael Gregory (Year 11) for BSW and I hope to see you next week for Edition 45.
