New Music Leaders Announced

Year 9 Final Recital Reminder

Next Sunday (November 1st) Year 9 will offer their End-of-Year Recital. This will feature pieces from the topics: Theatre Music and the Baroque Era.

Their recital commences at 7.00pm in the Cultural Centre.

All interested supporters of music are welcome to attend this very pleasant evening of music-making, followed by supper!

Year 10 Final Recital Review

Last Sunday, the Year 10 music class performed their Final Recital.

Music from the set topic, Music of the Classical Period, was featured along with a free choice from each student.

There were a number of very impressive efforts from the group, with all students showing a depth of development in their skills over the duration of the course.

Pipe Band Grand Final Report

With a crowd of nearly 100,000 AFL fans, ten pipers from The Scots Pipe Band stood before John Farnham and joined in on the song You're the Voice, at the 2009 AFL Grand Final!

Kool Skools 2009

I was very happy to attend the annual presentation of the local participants of the Kool Skools programme at the Albury Library Museum in the first week of the holidays.

Final Recitals - Years 9 & 10

The Year 9 & 10 music classes will present their Final Recitals for the year over the next two weeks.  It is always very rewarding seeing the progress and talent of these musicians.

It is very exciting to begin rehearsals this week on our musical for 2010, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. I look forward to working with the cast as we negotiate our way through all of the decisions that are required before a show is ready for an audience.

Henty Field Days Performances

Congratulations to our musicians and music staff that performed at the School stand at the Henty Field Days as part of our School promotion in the last week of Term 3.

Scots Performing at the Grand Final

In a coup for Scots, the Scots Pipe Band will be performing at the AFL Grand Final tomorrow (Saturday 26th September) as one of the opening performances for the match.

Music Rehearsals

With the exception of rehearsals on Monday 19th October, all music rehearsals will recommence in Week 1 of Term 4.

Orchestra members are reminded to bring their instruments on the first day of the Term and Choir will be on in the afternoon.

HSC Practical Examinations Notice

The Senior Music students are doing their final preparations for the HSC practical examinations coming up next week.

The Music 2 and Extension examination is on Monday 21st September in the Cultural Centre from 2.00pm - 3.30pm, whilst the Music 1 Examination is on Wednesday 23rd September.

New Vocal and Instrumental Members Reminders

It is that time of year when new members are encouraged to join the various music groups, and Year 11 students are considered for leadership roles.

The Music Staff are currently considering possible leaders for each of the groups, with the new appointees announced early next term.

Melbourne Chamber Orchestra Performance

Coming up during the holidays is a performance at Scots by the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, directed by Rachael Beesley.

This world-class string group gives spellbinding performances in their concerts and I recommend it highly to all Scots' musicians - especially those learning string instruments.

Ex-student Justin Williams plays viola with the MCO.

Henty Field Days Entertainment

Some of our musicians will be performing at the School stand at the Henty Field Days as part of our School promotion in the last week of term.

On the Tuesday, our Senior String Ensemble is playing; on Wednesday it will be the Pipe Band's turn and on Thursday, the Jazzgang will play.
