LOTE Festival Prize Winners
It is with great pleasure that we announce the students who did so well in the recent Border Modern Language Teachers Association (BMLTA) LOTE Festival Language Competition.
The Scots School Albury had students entered in each of the various categories and age groups, and their efforts were rewarded with a wonderful set of results.

Dear Parents,
As we have many parents experiencing the final fortnight for the first or second time, I feel it is appropriate and helpful to issue a reminder of the details for Weeks 7 & 8. Parents and friends are invited to each of these special events.
Primary Students Think Globally, Act Locally
Our world will be the centre of the Primary School's attention over the last few weeks of this term. The focus upon a healthy and thriving environment, locally and globally, is our aim.
A range of different activities are planned that will complement the curriculum and enhance the sense of learning and community within the Primary School.
Farewell Mrs Sue Salisbury
As Mrs Norton has indicated, 2009 will be Mrs. Sue Salisbury's final year at The Scots School Albury. Sue has completed an outstanding career and is sure to look forward to, and enjoy, her retirement.
Sue commenced teaching in our Pre School in 1978, where she remained until 1984. She returned in 1988 to teach Year 3.

Sue Salisbury (Year 2 Home Room Teacher) and Doug McGhee (Carer, Sellars House) will both be leaving us at the end of the year.

Public Speaking Gala Finals Evening Report
What an absolute privilege it was to be a member of a most appreciative audience at the annual Years 3-6 Public Speaking Finals Evening held at the School on Monday 1st November.
A wide variety of topics proved to be both highly entertaining and educational, with topics as diverse as Cudgewa and Switzerland.
Every Move We Make
In a recent Sydney Morning Herald article (July 22nd 2009) journalist Adele Horn discussed the importance of positive parent behaviour at the sporting field. In her article she outlined research which links outbursts of parent anger to the anger expressed in road rage. An interesting connection!
Chaplain's Chat - Tricking Jesus
One of the most famous passages in the Bible is where Jesus draws the ten commandments together into two simpler commandments. Simpler is often what we are all looking for.
Music Lessons During Exam Weeks
Examinations will be commencing in the secondary school over the coming weeks. These will involve interruptions to normal routines and in Week 5 the Cultural Centre will be out-of-bounds during examination periods.
Public Speaking Finals Reminder
The annual Years 3-6 Public Speaking Finals evening is the culmination of an extensive program conducted in each respective class.
To reach the Final and represent your class, the students have to have completed a round of speeches presented in front of their peers. Some classes then held a second round before deciding upon their finalists.
Scots Shop holiday closure
The Scots Shop will be closed from Thursday 10th December 2009 and will re-open on Monday 18th January 2010.
The Scots Shop will be open every day from the 18th January 2010 (with the exception of Australia Day, 26th January) from 8.30am until 4.30pm.
