On March 12th a Luncheon was held in the Function Room of the Dining Hall at which a number of "Old" Old Boys attended. The youngest Old Boy being 76 and the oldest Old Boy - 94. I will leave it to you to select who you think is which in the photo above!
A number of the attendees were School Captains of their year - Bill Richardson ('36), Ian Ellis ('48) and Dudley Scott ('49). Noel Stephens was School Vice Captain in 1949 and Jim Devlin Sports Captain in 1948.
John McBrien, born in 1914, remembered being at school with "Sir" - "Sir" being Mr. G.B.Wilson who was at the school from 1887 to 1928. G.B.Wilson took over as sole Head of the School in 1902 on the death in a buggy accident of his partner in the school Mr. A. J. Smith. In 1928 G.B.Wilson sold the school to the Presbyterian Church due to his failing health.
Many tales were told at the luncheon including Bill Richardson telling how he rode his horse to school from Wodonga each day.
The Old Boys luncheon was hosted by Principal Mrs. Heather Norton with the current school captains Jessica McIntosh and Matthew Reid in attendance.
It is envisioned that there will be two of these luncheons held each year involving Old Boys from the 1920s, '30s and '40s.
If you know the names and contact details of any such Old Boys from these years that you think would like to attend a luncheon please contact the Development Office on (02) 6022 0030.
