Travel Concessions

Free Government transport home (NSW Boarding Students Only)
Economy passes for Boarding Students’ weekend and vacation railway travel to home are issued on request.  This entitles the student(s) to free travel (if seats are available).

Applications by NSW Boarding Student(s) for Long Distance Coach Travel
Boarding students living in NSW are able to claim long distance coach travel through the Business Office. The Department of Motor Transport will meet the cost of long distance coach travel from home to school and return, incurred by students boarding away from home, subject to the following conditions:

1. No other form of free travel has been approved.
2. Refund of fares will only be made in respect to the equivalent of nine return journeys per school year.  The journeys will comprise a maximum of two return trips per term (except for one term, when three return trips may apply at the student’s discretion).  The number of journeys for which the Department will meet the costs cannot be aggregated from term to term.
3. Individual parents or schools must initially meet the cost of fares and then seek reimbursement from the Department.
4. An application for refund of fares is made by the School at the end of each semester.
5. Original receipts or passenger’s copies of coach tickets must accompany any application(s) for refunds.  The Department reserves the right to withdraw free travel if investigation shows the student to be ineligible.  Any subsides paid as a consequence of false or misleading information will be required to be re-paid to the Department of Motor Transport.

Railways of Australia - Student Identification Card
These cards are issued on request to any secondary student aged 16 years and over.  They allow concession travel by rail (including interstate), bus and ferry services.  These passes are also valid for cinema concessions.

Victorian Public Transport forms for holiday travel are available from the Business Office.  NSW Public Transport passes for travel are available from Administration Reception at the School.
