Secondary Program
Year 7 Programs
Orientation Day
In Term 4 (prior to the commencement of Year 7), all students enrolling in Year 7 the following year, are invited to attend the Year 7 Orientation Day on campus.
This day provides an opportunity for students to socialise and get to know some of their fellow students, become familiar with their new surroundings and meet with staff and student leaders.
Peer Support Program
The Peer Support Program is offered to Year 7 students during Term One, to ensure their smooth transition from Primary School into Secondary School. The Program is facilitated by Year 11 students who have been trained in Peer Support.
During Term One the Year 7 students are involved each week in a variety of activities and discussions with their senior leaders.
Role of Support Staff
In addition to the overarching role played by our Chaplain /School Counsellor in ensuring the welfare of our students, Scots also has Year Level Co-ordinators who are responsible for addressing any problems students may be experiencing.
Our Pastoral Care Program also places each student under the care and guidance of a Tutor. Each House Tutor Group is kept small to enable a more personalised relationship to develop between students and their peers.
Senior Student Leaders
Opportunities to become involved in leadership roles are available to all age groups at Scots. Student Leaders include those elected as School Captains, Boarding House Captains, Prefects, House Captains and Vice Captains. Within the Boarding House, Boarding Seniors are selected to assist the Boarding House Captains.
Leaders have the opportunity within these roles to demonstrate their leadership capabilities to their fellow students and peers.
Student Representative Council (S.R.C)
At Scots students are encouraged to actively participate in a variety of community service activities. These activities help our students to develop personal and leadership skills, and to learn and care for others as well as their environment.
In addition to the SRC (a student-elected group) who organise fundraising events such as casual days, discos, Daffodil Day, and more, students from each House raise funds and awareness for a nominated charity each year.
Our SRC commenced 2009 with a clear mission to serve the students of The Scots School Albury, nominating to work with representatives of the Primary School in an inclusive K-12 approach.
All representatives on the Council are provided with numerous opportunites throughout the year to develop important leadership skills.
