The Outdoor Classroom

primary camp

All of our outdoor education programs - from the Year 2 overnight camp, to the action packed 3 day adventure programs for Years 3-6, aim to foster and develop the skills that sustain lifelong learning.

As students experience the “Outdoor Classroom” journey they encounter a myriad of activities and tasks such as rock wall climbing, abseiling, flying foxes, campouts and cookouts, archery, fencing, team building, initiative challenges and games, canoeing, cycling and BMXing, low rope courses, bushcraft and construction.

All of these challenges help to foster team building skills, self esteem, confidence and strength of character, as our students develop the capacity to move with confidence between different environments.

The activities also enable the students to work and socialize with each other (in groups of various sizes), whilst drawing on the need for society’s ships - friendships, partnerships and companionship.

The outdoor adventure program at Scots provides our students with a myriad of rich memories that remain with them for years to come.

Camp Programs

The Camp Programs are planned to increase the level of challenge offered as children progress through the School.

The activities offered at the Year 2 overnight stay through to the upper primary camps, help to challenge and develop important social, physical and mind skills.

This vital aspect of schooling plays a crucial role in the individual progress of our students.

Year Level Camp Programs:

  • Year 2   Royal Melbourne Zoo (overnight)
  • Year 3   Valley Homestead (2 nights)
  • Year 4   Borambola Sport & Recreation Centre (2 nights)
  • Year 5   Lake Nillahcootie (2 nights)
  • Year 6   Valley Homestead (2 nights)

Snow Skiing

outdoor 4

Due to our proximity to the major Victorian ski resorts of Falls Creek and Mount Hotham, a large contingent of students and their families are able to make the best use of the alpine facilities each winter.

Special coaching programs are conducted throughout the ski season, with school teams competing in the Inter-School and Australian Secondary School's Skiing Championships.

Because of these opportunities, it would be hard to find a school with a more enthusiastic group of skiers at both Primary and Secondary levels!
