A Golden Moment for Sara on the Snow

Thursday, 12 Mar 2026

We are delighted to celebrate Sara Butko (Year 12), one of our very own emerging talents in winter sport and a genuine next-generation Olympic contender.

Sara, a Victorian Institute of Sport Aerial Skiing Development athlete, recently claimed her first international victory, winning gold at the FIS Freestyle Europa Cup in Ruka, Finland, just before Christmas.

Competing in her aerial skiing debut at the Europa Cup, Sara finished fourth on Day 1 — an impressive result in a highly competitive international field. On Day 2, however, she delivered when it mattered most, executing a superb back tuck to outscore her opposition and secure the Gold Medal.

Her European tour also included training in some of the world’s premier winter sport destinations across Italy and Finland, providing invaluable international experience at an elite level.

Sara’s achievement is a testament to her discipline, resilience and commitment to her sport. We congratulate her on this outstanding milestone and look forward to following her journey as she continues to soar on the international stage.
