Scots 160 Years • David Easton

As our School marks 160 years of Scots and its founding schools, memories of the past come vividly to life through the stories of those who lived them. For former student David Easton, school days were shaped by simplicity and resilience — classrooms without cooling, old gas heaters that were switched off at 11am sharp, regardless of the season, and a very different way of learning and living.

Yet, in David’s reflections, there is no bitterness — only warmth, humour and deep affection for the friendships, traditions and experiences that defined his time at the school. His story is a reminder that while buildings and facilities may change, the spirit of a school community endures across generations.

Today, as we celebrate 160 years of history, we honour memories like David’s: stories that connect the past to the present and continue to shape the character of Albury Grammar School.
